Many programs abroad can be significantly cheaper than doing the same in the US.  It is usually $8,000-$18,000/year. (Plus, study abroad is built into the experience, so no need to pay extra for it!) You just have to know where to look to find the right programs at a good price.

 Undergraduate Degrees

Doing an undergraduate degree abroad is a great choice. Here are some basics to keep in mind:

  • Most undergraduate degrees are completed in three years, although some are done in four.  Most programs do not have the general education requirements, and you will immediately start in your major.

  • There are many programs in English, but if you have some language background you may consider doing your degree in a foreign language.

  • Many undergraduate degrees require IB or AP coursework, but there are ways to fill the gap in case you need some extra coursework for entry.

  • If you are not ready to take the plunge but would like a teaser, inquire about any gap or summer programs abroad.

Graduate Degrees

Completing a graduate degree abroad is a no-brainer. You will not only save money, you will also develop global skills and in some countries you will have the opportunity to obtain a work visa for afterwards.

  • Entry for graduate programs abroad tend to be relatively straight-forward assuming you have completed an undergraduate degree in the appropriate academic field.  You may also need to demonstrate some relevant lab or work experience for some programs.

  • There are many graduate programs abroad are in English, even in countries where English isn’t the primary language.
